Loader Operator/Roustabout

ASRC Energy Services is looking for a Heavy Equipment Loader Operator.

This Roustabout will be responsible for operating heavy industrial loaders to include using stinger, forks, bucket, and snow removal attachments and also assist ground workers on project.

Location: Kuparuk, AK, US



General Duties:

  • Operate front end loaders, to lift, haul, load and unload materials, move soil, gravel, construction supplies, and other materials. 
  • Monitor equipment operation and identify malfunctions.Must be comfortable working around ground crew and high pressure wells and flow lines.
  • Clean, store, and maintain equipment as required.
  • Erecting Well Houses
  • Excavating around Well Heads using jackhammers, shovels and rock bars
  • Leveling dirt and compacting for installation of well house floors.
  • Lifting of flow lines for annual inspection.
  • Able to work well with others and be part of the team.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

Roustabout Foreman Duties and responsibilities



  • Lead, complete, and document ECD Site Inspections to ensure flare efficiency through flare and tank seal maintenance and initiate any manufacturer required repairs.
  • Performs hydro-testing in strategic areas and uses consistent method for early detection of failures.
  • Assemble and repair oil field machinery and equipment.
  • Provide assistance to pumpers, as needed.
  • Develop, document, and implement quality control procedures for construction projects.
  • Maintain  roustabout truck to safely and effectively perform construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Keep invoices and CDL logs current on a daily basis.
  • Effectively clean up all spills to ensure safe work area.
  • Walk flow lines to locate leaks.
  • Abide by all PDC safe work procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Collect and document galvanic anode readings and install anodes when needed.

10-Day Professional Training Drilling Operations Program

Pre Employment Floorman Roughneck for Land and Offshore Drilling Rigs

Maritime Drilling Schools Limited in Partnership with Sitting Bull College is offering the 10 day program which will include professional training for those seeking an indepth knowledge of how drilling rigs operate.

United States students may be eligible for a Pell Grant, GI-Bill or Trend Grant funding and receive 5 College Credits along with two IADC Accreditations.

Students may also complete a semester and receive 16 College Credits by taking the full semester in Oil Drilling Program.

Students interested in either program must register at both schools before acceptance and contact Sitting Bull College to register @ (701) 854-8000. 
The 10-day program covers drilling workover and completions along with offering two accreditations from the (IADC) International Association of Drilling Contractors. 

Students enrolling in the 10-Day Drilling Operations Program at Sitting Bull College are responsible for their own accommodations and transportation. Accommodations closest to the school would be Prairie Knights Casino, Mandan or Bismarck, North Dakota.

What does a Roughneck do?

Roughneck also know as a Floorhand.

The roughneck is hard-manual labor working on oil rigs. Roughneck's duties include the pipe handling, casing and drilling equipment on the drill floor also has to performance the maintenance on the equipment. 

The roughneck work on the drill floor of a drilling rig handling specialized drilling equipment for drilling, makes and breaks rotary connections using rig tongs, handles tubular goods, elevators and slips, and operates semi-automated pipe-handling machines.

Additionally, the roughneck participates in the every day cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance work on the drill floor and in the shale shaker room.

This is a Roustabout entry level position that is working in the facility in the equipment or service support categories.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with hands and will have experience prepping equipment prior to tasks.

Essential Duties

  • Safety and Security: Observes all safety and security procedures at all times.

  • Reporting all near misses immediately to the Roustabout Supervisor.

  • Carrying out all maintenance, inspections and repairs on equipment as requested.
  • Sweeps up debris; shovels sludge into buckets or wheelbarrows or down chutes; uses suction hoses from an air moving units
  • Removes chemical residues and other liquids from tank bottoms with squeegees or pump and suction hoses
  • Dries tanks with wood shavings or portable air drying equipment
  • Tests gas content of tanks
  • Works with maintenance group to maintain equipment in the shop. This includes shop logistics
  • Utilizing hand tools as required
  • Well Hookups, tie-ins, and other activities associated with production sites and drilling rigs where Roustabout services are utilized
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work as a Roughneck with Southwestern Energy

Drilling rigs are located in various areas in Arkansas plus other states.

Work schedule is equal time - 7 days on 7 days off or 14 days on 14 days off with rotating days and nights and at various locations throughout Southwestern Energy's operating area.


Job Duties:

Performs various manual labor tasks throughout the rig site under the supervision of the driller.

Performs general repairs and maintenance on major and minor rig components.

 Lift and carry heavy equipment, tools and supplies.

 Works with other crew members on the rig to perform tasks as required by the operational situation.

 Assists the (Assistant Driller) Derrickman with mud-mixing duties.

Work is normally performed out-of-doors, where exposure to atmospheric conditions of extreme heat or cold, fumes, and gases are frequent. Exposure to noise, vibration, high pressure, moving/mechanic parts, electrical, chemical and caustic materials is common in the normal performance of the duties associated with this position.
